Dear Dave, This semester I have been eating lunch regularly at Crimson Crust almost everyday. You can fill yourself up for a nice price, plus the guys who work there are all cool and the atmosphere is nice and a little less hectic than out in Cate main. Today, Valentine's Day eve, I walked into Crimson Crust, envisioning myself crying myself to sleep as I hold on to Mr. Cuddles, my teddy bear, as I weep and weep over my loneliness on Valentine's day. Buy lo and behold, on this majestic February the 13th afternoon, I found my new love on the line of the pizza buffet. She was a thin crusted cheese pizza. As we all know, thin crust is the king/queen of all pizza crusts. And I do beleive that this is the first time my beloved has made her appearance on the buffet line this semester. It was Valentine's Day magic, I swear Dave. I ate four huge delicsious slices. Could we have some sort of thin crust pizza as a regular, maybe even daily, option on the pizza buffet line in Crimson Crust ? That would really rock my world, baby. You can't turn this magical Valentine's Day encounter into a cheap, one night stand. You just can't, Dave. You must reunite my love and I everyday henceforth! Thanks for reading, and happy Valentine's Day -John
John, we need to talk. Hey man, I love food as much as anyone but let me tell you from experience that this new found relationship you have with the pizza won’t last. Sure in the beginning everything is new and exciting and we can overlook the little things and all the warning signs that are there that this relationship is doomed to failure but there will come a day …..
Right now you’re enamored with the look, the crispness of her crust, the sauciness of her personality, the way she wears the mozzarella just right and those toppings, oh baby those toppings. But John, no pizza could ever live up to the mental image you have created. Familiarity breeds contempt. Being together day after day becomes a struggle, the new becomes ordinary, the excitement becomes excruciatingly boring, then my friend you can’t wait until it’s over.
I know, I know, you say it won’t happen but one of these days her sauce will be on a little crooked, her crust will be a little burned and her cheese my god her cheese will get cold and hard. She will be a constant reminder of the passion that you had, and lost.
John, it’s better to be like two ships passing in the night. Oh it was fun and it was wild and you never felt so alive …… but let it go, let her go, you’ll always have your memories.
Panda Express please!
First of all you have done a good job with the calzones and pizza rolls, keep it up. Could you please open back up the window shades on the side with the grill; it is a little dark over there now. plus, would it be possible to get some plates near the nachos, you always have to bother the people in the mexican line to get a plate or walk over to the stir fry. As far as food goes the only thing that i can think is that you should serve some of those curly fries like they do at crossroads, that would be great.
Hey thanks for all the great feedback, I think we can take care of all of your comments.
If Panda Express took the place of Burger King I would eat there nearly everyday!! (Then of course I would get only meal points so that I wouldn't have to wait to eat there. Just kidding, but I would really love to have a Panda Express on campus! Christina
We are still in discussions with Panda and our Legal Counsel. Sometimes we just can’t work a deal due to the fact that we are a state institution and have to follow some pretty strict guidelines when it comes to contracting with an outside vendor. I will try to keep you appraised of the progress (or lack of) that we are making.
Dear Dave, I was in the Café the other day and after finishing my meal I went to Freshens for a Smoothie. Please tell me why the Smoothies @ the Huffman are sooo Good and the Smoothies at Couch are terrible. At Couch they are watered down, not at all what a Smoothie should be. Please send the staff from the Huffman to teach the people at Couch how to do it right. Amanda and Amber are awesome! Smoothie Police
I’ll look into this. We use exactly the same product so you should get exactly the same smoothie.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for feeding us 24/7.
I come to the Bookmark at least 2 times a day. I get the same drink & people are usually very friendly!! Today 11/9 a girl named **** waited on me and was extremely rude. I understood Bookmark was busy & only 2 people were working, however I didn’t deserve the attitude.
Wow, this comment must have been lost in cyberspace! I am sorry it has taken me so long to get to it! I forwarded your comment to the supervisor at Bookmark with the employees’ name. I took it our here because I didn’t think it was needed to make the point of your comment. Rhonda at Bookmark will address this.
You need to put some seasoning on the burgers.
What kind of seasoning?
We had a few entries in our Xcetera Valentine contest. Here they are:
Roses are red, violets are blue, I love Xcetera, because the folks could never be bettera!
Valentine Poem: Oh my dear Xcetera, All my needs you take care-a! Soda, juice, and milk, checking out is smooth as silk. With our Sooner Sense and meal points, you are on happin’ joint!
I love Xcetera, because they have a plethora of food, when I’m in the mood. If only my points lasted as long as my joints, I’d be here every year!
And the Winner is:
Xcetera! I love thee! Ode to Xcetera:
Xcetera, Xcetera its easy to see, that no place on earth is as schnazzy as thee! Each day I do quiver as tests start to loom & the rumbling of tummies dost fill my dear room. “What to do”. I do cry and my roommate replies, “to Xcetera, do fly! Your solutions combined” So wandered did I, down the stairs with great haste As off in my view I discovered my fate! A room full of goodies, right there, just for me! And my roommate & friends & the birds & the bees! ( Well not them if you please!)
Oh Xcetera your coffee dost chase off my gloom & each morning your green tea adorns my sweet room. At lunch e’er your sushi is found in my hands, oh dear greatest of stores! Nay, the best in the land! The organics & fat-frees, my teas, they’re all there! (& the cookies & queso’s my hips proudly wear) Ever present, right there, & directly in view and a mere staircase down from 4th Walker Room!
Yes, thank you dear store, for all that you do! Your food is quite grand and your smiles great too! Yes, its easy to say, oh aloud in clear view, oh my favoritist store, it is true! I LOVE YOU! SR Walker 4W.
Wow, we must have been giving away some really cool prizes for you to put all that effort into your Valentine to Xcetera. With writing ability like this could a Hallmark career be in your future? One can only wonder.
Yo, I love the salad bar, but it needs a bleu cheese dressing. There are several dressings, but no bleu cheese. How can this be?
I’m not sure, we’ve received this comment before. I’m sure we can find a good bleu dressing without too much effort.
Could we have a greater variety of non-caffeinated drinks at Wendy’s? I don't really like anything much there except Coke, but my doctor suggests that I avoid caffeine, so I wish we had Caffeine-Free Coke and Caffeine-Free Diet Coke. Do we really need two Mr. Pibb, two Fruit Punch, two Sprite, two Lemonade, two Barq's? Could we replace one of the Fruit Punch and one of the Mr. Pibb with Caffeine-Free Coke/Diet Coke? Also: now that we have new $1 coins, could the various restaurants be directed to keep them in circulation by immediately giving them out as change whenever they have them instead of just putting them in a drawer at the side or bottom of the till and forgetting about them? They can’t become popular if no one ever sees them in use. Jay
I think we can find a tap for a caffeine free drink, it is certainly available to us. As far as the dollar coins go they will never catch on unless we get rid of the paper dollar. I doubt it’s something we keep in our till on a regular basis, just the few we get from time to time. I think for the most part the only time we see dollar coins is when someone buys stamps and gets their change that way.
Mr. Annis, I work for Information Technology in the Couch computer lab and frequently eat at Couch Express. I first started eating there because it was close and convenient. Now, after getting to know the employees, I enjoy eating there and getting to talk to the employees on a daily basis; not to mention they do a great job cooking and preparing the food. I was just writing to let you know what a wonderful job they are doing here, especially Peggy and Ricky. I couldn't be happier with the great service and smile I am always greeted with while there. I believe they are the type of employees that Housing and Food could use more of. Travis
Thanks for the positive feedback, it is appreciated.
Would it be possible to have a whole-grain waffle option instead of just refined bleach flour ones? Maybe some fruit toppings too? The OU breakfast selection is so lacking in a variety of nutritious options it's no wonder it's the cheapest meal served at Couch. With such few healthful options, though, it should be even cheaper.
I don’t disagree that the breakfast menu is the most limited one we have. Breakfast participation is very low so it becomes problematical to expand the menu without having the customers there to offset the efforts. I’m not sure if we have a whole wheat waffle option, I will check. We do have a good mix of whole grain cereals, oatmeal, granola, and breads. Yogurt and soy milk is available as is Egg Beaters egg substitute for those of you who want an omelet made from these instead of real eggs. There are vegetarian meat substitutes and on the beverage line 2% and skim milk as well as juices.
Hey Dave, I love getting stir-fry from Shanghai in the Caf, and the service is usually pretty good. However, when I went there last night, they refused to serve me. It was 7:40, a good twenty minutes before the Caf even closed, and the employees were just standing there doing nothing. There were two workers, and neither of them made an attempt to help me. They said that there were no clean woks, so I stood there for about five minutes waiting for a wok. After that five minutes, one of the employees finally informed me that I would not be served because the woks wouldn't be clean in time to help me. He also said that they were required to close early. Now, I know that's not true because in a previous kitchen comment, you said that the only thing in the Caf that closed early was half of the salad bar. I'm not usually a stickler for this, and I understand that people like to leave in time (I was a waiter)...but there were twenty whole minutes left and two employees doing nothing. I had to leave without my stir-fry, and it was just unprofessional. Sorry, I don't mean to sound mean or angry...I just thought you should be aware of this.
I don’t know what was going on but the wok excuse wasn’t really the best, we can clean a wok in less than 5 minutes. I’m really disappointed by this.
Everything is way overpriced at least by two hundred percent and they dont have much variety
You exaggerate. Food costs at Xcetera are higher than what you’ll find at Wal-mart, that’s for sure but we have a lot of items that are competitively priced.
Dave! Oh keeper of keys, cooker of cooks, and manager of mans. Please oh please put in a Panda Express! While your at it... an Apple Store would be nice as well. Matthew Coats
An Apple store, why didn’t I think of that? It would be a great addition to Food Services. We could sell Macintoshes, Winesaps, Granny Smiths, red and golden delicious, and of course my favorite, Fujii’s. Think of all the possibilities ….. Little baskets or pods made up with different varieties, maybe we could call them “I-Pods of Apples” or something like that. (I will pass this along to our IT folks in case they can think of any other Apple type store we can have.)
Dave, the new tea bar in Couch, AMAZING! A MUCH better replacement for those always broken down tea machines. Let's keep it this way!
We love the tea machines but you are right they did always break down. They were not meant for anywhere near the use they got in our operations. We are still intent on bringing you a great tea concept however so the new system at Couch is a test of the Tazo (Starbucks) tea program.
Dear Dave, As a freshman at the university, I'd like to encourage you to find better venders for Adam's Center. I know a lot of people would love to have a Sonic or even a Crossroads 2! Burger King hasn't really been doing a good job and their selection is not up to par. I know you are working very hard to reach your goal of 100% customer satisfaction. Also I was a little upset to see that you discontinued serving bratwurst at the Caf. That was a great addition to the grill. You guys have been doing a great job so far and I want to encourage you guys to keep up the hard work.
First, let me put your fears to rest, we are still serving bratwurst at Couch. We will have it from time to time on the Smokehouse line but more often you will find it on the hot dog line. Check for it there. Adam’s Center is a great location for a food operation, just not good enough of a location for many large chains. With limited parking they must rely on the traffic in and on campus and that seems to scare many vendors away.
Dear Dave, I am deathly allergic to any milk products - anything with lactose. That includes milk, butter, cheese, you name it. I just love the Tofutti additions in XCetera! I appreciate your constant efforts to accommodate all of the on-campus students. My friends just love to watch movies and eat a pint of ice cream. I usually resort to a bowl of jello. I know that there are Tofutti pints. I'm not asking for anything elaborate, but if you were to look into getting a couple of pint flavors, that would be absolutely amazing. Thank you for the consideration!
I’ll see what we can do. |
