29. Should students carry personal property insurance? |
|
|
The University of Oklahoma assumes no financial responsibility for damages to, or loss of, the personal property of students. The University of Oklahoma departments of Housing and Food Services and Risk Management collectively recommend that students check their parents’ homeowner’s insurance policy to see if their personal items would be covered in the event of damage while living in a residence hall or an on-campus apartment at the University of Oklahoma. If a student is not covered by his or her parents’ homeowners insurance or if they wish to purchase additional coverage exclusively for the student, he or she may check with any general insurance agency for details on securing such insurance. These companies can be located by checking your local phone book. Other options are listed below in no particular order and without any implied recommendation by the University of Oklahoma. We have no “preferred” vendor.”
