Welcome parents!
We are excited that your student has chosen to make one of our on-campus communities at the University of Oklahoma their home away from home. We hope you and your student will fully explore this website to become familiar with everything we have to offer.
The University of Oklahoma was recently ranked in the Top Ten Public Best Value Colleges in an article by The Princeton Review. Please click here to learn why. Also, take a moment to see what President David L. Boren has to say about the on-campus living experience by clicking here.
As a parent, you may be interested to know that on-campus living contributes to higher levels of faculty-student interaction and peer support, generally better academic performance and social integration, and higher graduation and retention rates. Those of us who comprise Housing and Food Services go to great lengths to enrich the OU experience for our students, and we provide many services that extend the value of the room and board contract including our Faculty-in-Residence program, 24-hour monitored quiet study areas, free tutoring via the Housing Learning Center, frequent community programs that contribute to personal and community development, and an excellent residence life staff as a resource to help and support your student.
A value-added program offered by H&F for sophomores and above who reside in a residence hall or at OU Traditions Square is the OU Academic Success Rebate Program. This program is designed to encourage and reward students for strong academic performance, based on their OU cumulative GPA. While technically not a scholarship, it is guaranteed money to help reduce the cost of college and living expenses. Click on the link on the left to learn more about this program.
There are several links to the left of this message through which you can find answers for many of your questions. In addition, you can click here for information about the University’s 3 Strikes Policy or here for information about the campus Alcohol Policy. As a parent, you may find it interesting to note that the students who report the highest level of satisfaction with their freshman year experience are those who participate in their community’s programs and who do not drink alcohol or drink very little.
Finally, we welcome your feedback about this website. How can we be more helpful to you? You can contact us by using the directory here or by e-mailing us at
