academic success rebate program Print

Technically not a scholarship, but money just the same.

The OU Academic Success Rebate Program rewards academic excellence among upperclass and graduate students* living in OU Traditions Square or the residence halls. For 2009-2010, we are updating the program.

For OU Traditions Square residents:
For Fall rebates applied in December, Housing and Food Services will review Spring OU Cumulative GPAs, and for Spring rebates applied in May, Housing and Food Services will review Fall OU Cumulative GPAs. Students who quality for other Housing and Food Services discounts, such as the h&f Loyalty Program, will still qualify for the OU Academic Success Rebate Program.

For upperclass OU Residence Hall residents:
Academic Success Rebates will be applied by January or June based on that current semesters' GPA. This means, that if you live in the residence halls as an upperclass student in fall 2009, we will review your fall 2009 Semester GPA to evaluate what will be your academic success rebate. Rebates are offered for traditional fall academic semester and traditional spring academic semester. Upperclass status is determined by housing contract type at the start of the contract period.

The value of the rebate will depend on the student's OU GPA and to participate in the program, students agree to grant a housing official permission to review their academic records. To be eligible for the rebate, students must be classified as an upperclass or graduate student resident at the start of their contract period. The rebate program requires little of the student; student will maintain scholastic excellence and reside on campus, which is already statistically demonstrated to enhance a student's scholastic performance, according to OU's Office of Institutional Research and Reporting.

The OU GPA and rebate scale is as follows:

  • 3.25 - 3.49 ($100)
  • 3.50 - 3.74 ($200)
  • 3.75 - 3.99 ($300)
  • 4.0 ($400)
*Resident Advisers, Room and Board participants and exchange students are ineligible for this program.
