Couch Restaurants and its nearby towers were part of the expansion and modernization of the University's residence halls in 1967. The complex is named for one of OU's most beloved citizens, Glenn C. Couch, a former botany professor who became dean of University College. The restaurant can seat 750 patrons at one time. Originally a single large dining area, the restaurant is now divided into three restaurant themes that cater to various tastes. It offers additional services such as a Chick-fil-A, Sooner Smokehouse, Athen's Cafe, the Vegetation Station, dessert counter, and Freshen's Yogurt. Couch Restaurants has won national awards for its consistent high quality of service.
